2015 RMGA Match Play Championship 

Tournament Play Takes Place from June 28 to Oct 4, 2015 
Open To the Top 32 RMGA Players as of June 1, 2015
Registration Ends Friday, June 26th at 5:00PM       

Format:

  • The 32-player Match Play Championship field will be divided into eight four-player groups. Each group will play round-robin matches within their group.  The player with the best record in each of the four-player groups will advance to the Round of 8, single-elimination match play finals.
  • In the event of a two-way tie in a group, head-to-head results will be used to determine the winner of the group.
  • If there is a three-way tie, the tiebreaker will be determined by the players accumulative adjusted NET stroke score. Each game will be required to complete the 18-hole stroke play match to assist in determining the winner of a three-way tie.   
  • Each player is responsible to schedule their match with the competitors in their group. Please make every attempt to complete your matches by the play by dates listed below.
  • All round-robin matches must be completed by Sunday Aug 9, 2015.

Round Robin Schedule - Play By Dates:

            First Match by July 12
            Second Match by July 26
            Third Match by August 9

Quarterfinals play by date; Sunday August 30
Semifinals play by date; Sunday September 13
Match Play Finals and Consolation matches play on date is Sunday, October 4, 2015.

RMGA Members are invited to play in the standard Sunday match. Upon completion of their match, the players can go watch the Consolation or Championship matches. Please be cordial, quiet and respectful to the players in these matches as they will be playing for a large payout and RMGA Championship points.   

Rules:

  • All players must have a valid USGA Handicap to participate.
  • All play will be governed under USGA Match Play rules
  • Play will be from the Medal (blue) Tees, however players over the age of 60 may play from the Match (white) Tees and players over the age of 70 may play from the Forward (green) Tees or the Crush (Mix) Tees. Any player moving forward will have an adjusted handicap based on USGA rules (Section 3-5) for competitions with players participating from different tees. If you are going to play tees other than the Medal (blue) tees, please indicate the tees you will be playing in the comments field when you register for this event.
  • The Reunion Pro Shop will provide the official scorecard and rules sheet for each match.
  • Upon completion of your match, please turn the scorecards into the Reunion Pro Shop to post the scores on the official RMGA Match Play leader board.
  • The Reunion Pro Shop will also post all scores into the GHIN handicap system

All members of the RMGA are eligible to play in this event. Annual fee is $20.

Group Drawing:

  • RMGA annual points are in play for this event.
  • We will have a blind draw party Friday, June 19th, 7 pm, at the Reunion Hall Clubhouse.
  • Players will be positioned in groups based on their RMGA annual points ranking.
  • The top 8 players will be positioned as the top ranked player in each group. All other players will be placed in three groups of eight ranked 9 thru 16, 17 thru 24 and 25 thru 32 based on the current RMGA Cup Standings. All eight players will be drawn to determine which Group they will be competing. The first name will be placed in group 1, second in group 2, etc…

Tiebreaker:

  • Tie Breaker will be determined based on head-to-head competition
  • Three-way tie will be determined by the player’s accumulative stroke play net score
